Rose early to our new surroundings which came back to us like to old sailors. Left Alexandria port 7.10AM Great excitement on board when a sailor fell overboard. Capt rush- ed down from bridge & had a boat lowered in record time, but just as it was near waters edge, it was found

that he clung to a rope & was safe.

"September 1919. Man overboard. Lowering a boat containing 3rd Officer, doctor and four of the ship's crew. While returning to Australian on HMAT Boorara, an unidentified private became temporarily insane and dived overboard. A party searched the water for an hour but was unable to locate him and the ship proceeded without him."
