Unidentified soldiers accompanied by Egyptian guides look at the Obelisk,

about 10 kilometres north of Cairo.

It stands on the site of a vanished temple and bears the name of King Senusert I.

Australian troops stationed around Cairo came here on sightseeing trips. 1915
